I'm a duathlete. Love riding my bike, running, and topping it off with a good pint afterwards!

I live, work and play in Cardiff, Wales, UK.

Coming up are my personal and mostly useless ramblings on cycling and running.

When I'm not training or racing, I like to surf, play guitar, go to gigs, read, and brew real ale.

Wine is good too: making it, but better still, drinking it! Love music (Spotify & Last.fm) and always on the lookout for new bands. Bit of a sci-fi geek too - BSG rocks!

Spend far too much time drinking coffee and tinkering with Java code and SIP for a living, so there might be some tech shit in here too.

I'm proud to say I'm a sucker for beautiful women, so please excuse my propensity for posting the odd photo of my future wife! ;-)

And finally, once or twice a year, I head to the Alps for some snowboarding, which sadly, is never enough...

Sorry about the Edgar Allen Poe pun in the blog "Title"; I have no imagination.

Wine of the Week: “Toro Loco Tempranillo 2011”
My mum got me this from Aldi for just £3.50/$5! I had my doubts, has to be said. But, she insisted that a pal from work told her it was really good and had excellent reviews. So here goes…
Wow! The Aldi buyers have got winner here! It is a lovely tempranillo by Spanish producer Bodegas Coviñas from the Utiel Requena region of Valencia, Spain.
An unbelievably good wine for this price - the wine caused quite a stir!
Tasting Notes:
Lovely silky smooth wine with soft tannins. The plummy jammy taste is prominent, but plenty of ripe strawberries and redcurrants in the finish. Slightly peppered with a hint of vanilla - but nothing like a Rioja. Would be perfect with tapas or as a lunchtime wine. It’s so easy to drink on its own too ;-)
Right up there for wine of 2012 at the moment.
5/5.
